HEO (Heavy Equipment Operator) Instructor
O'Brien Training Ltd. is a leader in Heavy Equipment Operator Training across Western Canada training students in all industries including forestry, oil and gas, and construction since 2004. O’Brien Training is based in Prince George, BC, with remote operations throughout the province of British Columbia. O’Brien Training has grown the business year over year and is once again expanding. O’Brien Training is seeking a Heavy Equipment Instructor to join our team. As an instructor you will facilitate professional and engaging instruction to Heavy equipment operator (HEO) students. Our students are a diverse range of audiences and experience levels. Training is delivered on a fleet of over 35 pieces of modern construction and forestry heavy equipment. We deliver pre-machine training on simulators in our simulator center based in Prince George and on remote sites via two 53’ custom simulator trailers. Travel and extended stays to training sites throughout Western Canada may be required. The ideal candidate possesses the following minimum experience and competencies: •Equipment experience: Rock Truck, Excavator, Grader, Dozer, and wheel loader •10 years’ operating in settings of either/any -Demolition, Forestry, Civil, Environmental or oil and gas. •Proven experience providing instruction and facilitating training within a group setting and have a passion for teaching the next generation of Heavy Equipment Operators. •Education/Certification in a related discipline. •A valid driver’s license. •Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, professionalism, and planning skills •Self-starter and the ability to work with minimal supervision. •WHMIS certification and Level 1 First Aid certification, •Level 2 Ground disturbance for supervisors •Clear written and verbal communication •Strong understanding of Occupational health and Safety (OH &S), and WCB regulations as they relate. JOB DESCRIPTION: •Engage with HEO students while delivering daily training plans. •Demonstrate equipment use and tasks. •Conduct Pre-and post-trip Inspections on equipment with the student, and sign off as completed, or noting areas of concern for repair or maintenance. •Conduct student evaluations (marking and grading) and complete comprehensive student progress reporting. •Plan and be Proactive regarding site, equipment, safety, students, curriculum. •Site opening and closing responsibilities. •Make confident decisions and ask for clarification if needed. •Dress appropriately for weather, and safe work site Policy and wcb regulations around mobile equipment.
