Is there an age limit for attending O’Brien Training school?

Yes, we require that you be a minimum of 18 years old.

Is there a prerequisite for taking this course?

No, there currently is no prerequisite for this program.

Does the government recognize the program?

Yes, we have had many government agencies using our services for training.

Do you receive a certificate or diploma?

Yes, we award a certificate and safety certificates at the end of our course for our graduates presently there are no Government certifications available to be an operator, but private industry and government agencies are currently working toward a certification, and with our course you will be able to gain that.

Do I have to have a high school diploma?

No, you do not need a high school diploma.

Where do I go for financial assistance?

If unemployed check with the employment offices. They have numerous programs that you might be eligible for. if you have a learning or physical disability, check with your local Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation. If you are a first nations, check with your band office.

Is there a local housing list available?

We do realize that it is difficult to find accommodations when coming from out of town, we will try to give you an idea of the places that are available.

What happens when I graduate?

Your success is ultimately up to you. However, we do everything possible to assist in your success. We provide an contact list and introduce you to the information that could help get you employed.

Do I have to share equipment?

No, you have one piece of equipment dedicated to you for the duration of your course.

What size of equipment do you train on?

We use a variety of full size equipment with the smallest being just under 10 tonne and the largest just under 40 tonne.

Do you provide an actual working environment?

Yes, we implement tasks that are commonly used in the field.

How much experience do your instructors have?

Our instructor base has over 100 years of filed experience. We have diverse instructor base with experience in almost every area.

When do the courses start?

The school has continual intake, as soon as you are ready we can get you started on your new career path.

Is safety equipment required?

Yes, you will need the following; steel toed boots, colored hard hats, eye protection, hi-vis vest and gloves.
